Pillars

March 27, 2020

  Two              Two
 Pillars            Pillars
 Stand.          Stand.
They hold us up
in this home we’ve built.
Protecting us
from the lonely chills,
and the tides the fires the pain the lies
and we know
We are safe here.
But there comes a wave,
carrying scars of shame
carrying broken wings
carrying hidden betrayal
And all the wounds
washed up from the past
as Time reminds us that our hearts are glass.
The

             pillars
                                 fall.
But... the power of the sea
is supposed to be
the power to breathe
And the power to flow
towards a power believed.
But now all we can see
is the power to steal.
I failed.
I exposed us.
Now you sway in the wind
like I’ve taken your bones.
So with you on my shoulder,
and your heart in my palm
I climb and I fight
Til’ the glass reflects light.

While you feel and you heal and you fend and you mend,
I will not take rest til I’ve rebuilt what you need.
And so pebble by pebble.
Boulder by boulder.
I will build monuments,
Laced with fibers from my soul
until...
One
Pillar
Stands.

Fortified. Immovable. United. Home.

The Miracle Of You

May 10, 2020

We tend to forget
The limit of the tongue
In its ability to express
The breadth of the mind
And of life - its depth.
So I have yet

To truly experience a paragraph in full.
To live in a sentence...
Or to love in just words.

And the love of a mother
is one such love
that one cannot capture
in a cage of letters.

Like gripping water,
The hand gets wet
But "wet" does not begin
to convey the ocean
Let alone the depth
Of the love of my mom.

Oh, Mother.
My home.
The lifeforce of my growth.
The reason for my breath
And the source of my hope.

And as I go through life
With the lessons you’ve instilled
I will gain good favour
With powers, seen and hid.

I will tell them of your might,
Of the grace of your light.
Stories of a goddess
Unlike any they’ve lain sight.

But be not mistaken
For these words are no explanation
This poem is but stardust -
Effects of the celestial.
...evidence of the galaxies
Of the multiple universes
Which still are not vast
As my mother and her love.
This they will know.
They will know, they will feel.
Awestruck by your beauty,
Your strength and heart,
They will pilgrim to see you
Her Majesty. The Queen.

So on this day,
Your day,
Every day henceforth...
May the angels of the skies
Hark to thee, bearing gifts.

It is only my hope
That the miracles brought by angels
Are even half as devine
As the miracle of You.
